Pherecydes, griech. Philosoph aus Syros im 6. Jahrh. v. Chr., schrieb zuerst in Prosa über Kosmogonie und Theogonie, wie es scheint im pantheistischen Sinne; die Fragmente herausgeg. von Sturz (2. Aufl. Leipz. 1824). – P., aus Leros, wahrscheinlich zu Athen ansäßig, Logograph aus dem 5. Jahrh. v. Chr., verfaßte u.a. ein Werk über die älteste Geschichte Athens (die Fragmente in Müllers »Historicorum Graecorum fragmenta« Bd. I. Paris 1840).
