Jordan, Sylvester, geb. 1792 zu Omes bei Innsbruck, Sohn eines armen Schusters, studierte die Rechtswissenschaft und wurde 1822 Professor zu Marburg. Als Deputierter der Universität stand er nach 1830 an der Spitze der liberalen Partei in der Kammer, wurde hierauf durch Urlaubsverweigerung aus derselben entfernt, 1838 als in hochverrätherische Umtriebe verwickelt suspendirt, confinirt, verhaftet, criminaliter processirt, 1843 cassirt und zu 5jähriger Festungsstrafe verurtheilt, 1845 aber von der höhern Instanz freigesprochen. Im J. 1848 war er Mitglied des Vorparlaments, kurfürstl. Geheimer Legationsrath und Bundestagsgesandter und wirkte als Mitglied des Parlaments zu Frankfurt. Vertheidigungsschriften; Werke über das Strafrecht.
