Dewas, auch Fereschthehas, heißen in der indischen Religion die Geister der ersten der 3 Gunawelten, welche der Brahma (s. d. Art.) nach Wischnu und Schiwa schuf, voran den Indra, den 8. Welthüter, den verkörperten Mond. Die Dewatas haben ihre Freude an Erhaltung und Licht und stehen den Asuras oder Djenian kämpfend gegenüber, ähnlich wie die Izeds der Parsenreligion den Dienern Ahrimans, den Dews oder Lügengeistern.
