Benedict Levita, Diacon in Mainz, schrieb 840–847 eine mit der Kapitulariensammlung des Ansegisus verbundene Rechtssammlung, worin sich neben Kapitularien Stücke aus allen damaligen Rechtsquellen, namentlich ächte und unächte päpstliche Decrete finden. Doch spricht schon die bunte Planlosigkeit der Zusammenstellung dagegen, daß B. Verfasser der pseudoisidor. Decretalen sei.
