Pütter, Joh. Steph., geb. 1725 zu Iserlohn, gest. 1807 als Professor des Staatsrechts und Geh. Justizrath in Göttingen, zu seiner Zeit der größte Kenner der verwickelten deutschen Reichsverfassung. Von seinen vielen Schriften haben noch Werth: »Historische Entwicklung der Verfassung des deutschen Reichs«, 3. Au fl. Göttingen 1793; »Literatur des deutschen Staatsrechts«, Göttingen 1776–83).
