Megalopolis, Centralstadt der Arkadier, 371 v. Chr. erbaut, zählte 15000 waffenfähige Bürger, gelangte aber doch nicht zu einem verhältnißmäßigen Einflusse, weil Griechenland schon im Verfalle war. Geburtsort Philopömens u. des Geschichtschreibers Polybius.
