Strickland, Hugh Edwin, geb. 1811 zu Righton in der Grafschaft York, auf der Eisenbahn umgekommen am 14. Sept. 1853, gab eine Bibliographie der Zoologie u. Geologie heraus (Lond. 1847 ff.), veröffentlichte Untersuchungen über die Dronte (s. Dudu) u. deren Verwandtschaft (1848).
