Sirach

Sirach, eigentlich Jesus, der Sohn S.s von Jerusalem, schrieb um 180 v. Chr. das Buch der Weisheit, auch Ecclesiasticus (liber) d.h. Kirchenbuch od. Panaretos (griech., Tugendschatz) genannt, welches seine Enkel um 131 v. Chr. aus dem Hebräischen ins Griechische übersetzten und das schon vor Hieronymus Zeit auch latein. vorhanden war. Noch die Kirchenversammlung von Trient hat sich für die Göttlichkeit des Buches ausgesprochen. – Vgl. Ecclesia.
