Sind, Sindh, das Land am untern Indus mit dem großen Delta des Stromes, vor 1843 ein Staat von mehr als 2000 QM. u. 11/2 Mill. E., von mehren Fürsten (den Amirs von S.) beherrscht. die ein Corps Beludschen auf den Beinen hielten Unter dem Vorwande, sie stören die Flußfahrt, forderte England die freiwillige Unterwerfung der Fürsten und als nicht entsprochen wurde, eroberten sie das Land; das Delta u. das linke Ufer bildet seitdem einen Bestandtheil der brit.-ind. Präsidentschaft Bombay.
