Intendant, Oberaufseher; in Frankreich der Aufseher über das Polizei-, Finanz- u. Justizwesen eines Districts, in Preußen und anderswo der Kriegscommissär, welcher die Verpflegung und Bezahlung eines Heeres beaufsichtigt.
