Cultivators. Unter diesem Namen begreift man im Allgemeinen jene uns aus England in großer Mannigfaltigkeit zugekommenen und bekannt gewordenen Ackerwerkzeuge, wodurch man mit großer Ersparniß von Kraft u. Zeit den Erdboden zwar nicht herumwendet, auch nicht sehr tief rührt, aber doch die Oberfläche auf 2,3–4 Zoll kräftig bearbeitet, sein pulvert, gleichmäßig durcheinandermengt, Unkrautsamen an die Luft und zum Keimen bringt, sodann aber zerstört, auch die Wurzeln des Unkrautes entweder heraushebt oder durch wiederholtes Abschneiden und Rühren tödtet. Hierzu gehören die Scarificators, die Hobelpflüge, Ruhrpflüge, namentlich der Exstirpator und wohl auch der Häufelpflug.
