Lafuente, Name von 2 span. Geschichtschreibern der neuesten Zeit: L., Miguel Alcantara, geb. 1817 zu Archidona in der Provinz Malaga, wurde Advocat zu Granada, 1846 Mitglied der Kortes, st. 1850 als Regierungsbeamter in Havanah, der Hauptstadt von Kuba. Hinterließ eine Geschichte der Stadt u. des Königreichs Granada; L., Modesto, schrieb anfangs unter dem Schriftstellernamen Fray Gerundio in Zeitschriften, war 1844–50 Redactor von solchen und begann neuestens eine allgemeine Geschichte von Spanien zu liefern (Madrid 1850–54, Bd. 1 bis 10), die von der protestant. Kritik als die gelungenste der bisher erschienenen erklärt wird.
